National Forensic League is an academic club where students get the opportunity to develop their public speaking skills through oratorical competitions and enhance their critical thinking through extemporaneous speeches and debates. Led by our advisor and coach, Mrs. Manzanilla, we have been able to step out of our comfort zones and push ourselves more than we expected to. Among a wide variety of categories to participate in, students get to express their interest in public speaking. These categories include: original oratory, dramatic interpretation, humorous interpretation, debate, extemporaneous speaking, and duo interpretation.
These activities help them establish themselves in their future careers, no matter what they want to pursue. Other skills that we improve within NFL include researching, argumentation, tone, and delivery of speech, all of which help us to become more effective communicators. Our club competes against other schools in public speaking competitions, improving and refining our abilities to perform under pressure against other competitors.
