The FDMS class of 1968 held its 50 year reunion this past weekend. The distinguished Friars celebrated mass in the boys' chapel and were able to walk the halls of their beloved school once again. Their reunion celebration was held in the Outrigger hotel and to the delight of their guests, entertainment was provided by the class themselves who performed their songfest performance from 1968.
The FD social studies department recently held its annual Guam history competition as a qualifier for the regional Guam history day. Winners will advance to the regional Guam history day. Those who advance to place in the Guam history day competition will advance to the National History day competition.
Several students from Father Duenas have received the congressional nomination from the office of congresswoman Madeline Z. Bordallo. Raine Delos Reyes '18, Jonathan Lee '18, and Devon Garrido '18 all received congressional recognition of their distinguished leadership and accomplishments. These students meet the criteria to attend the United States Service Academies and other prestigious Universities.
Three distinguished faculty members receive the Archdiocese Loyal Service Award for 25 years of dedicated service to the school. Mrs. Angela Thompson, Mr. Carlos Linada, and Mrs. Evangeline Mangune have been recognized for their hard work and loyal service to FD and the Archdiocese of Agana.
The 2018 Sylvan My Favorite Teacher Award has gone out to several schools. Students from each school have voted for their favorite teacher of the year. Father Duenas’ students have voted for 2 overall favorite teachers this year. The awards were presented to Mr. Dan Boeding and Mr. Anthony Blas. The FD community appreciates these teachers, including all the teachers from the school.
