HAGÅTÑA, GUAM -- The Guam Chamber of Commerce, along with the Marine Corps Activity Guam, awarded the school with the most toys collected this 2016 Christmas season to Father Duenas Memorial High School on January 23, 2017.
Present to receive the $1,000 check and traveling plaque were the student class officers of all four classes, as well as Tony Thompson, their school Principal, Major Chris Merrill, USMC, and President of the Guam Chamber, Catherine Castro.
Simon Sanchez High School won the 2nd place spot winning a $500 award and Notre Dame High School won 3rd place winning a $200 award.
The students from all the high schools who participated enjoyed giving back to their young counterparts and successfully contributed to the total collection of over 5,000 toys this past holiday season. The collected toys were distributed to children on Guam through the Salvation Army and Catholic Social Services.
