The Father Duenas Friars were no match for the Southern High Dolphins in early morning football action at Southern High on Saturday.
The Friars walked away with a huge win, shutting out the Dolphins 45-0.
Friars running back De'aundre Cruz ran in the first touchdown of the game. The extra point was good, and the Friars were up on the Dolphins 7-0. Then Friars receiver Brian Anderson caught a pass from quarterback Daniel Philips and ran it all the way to the end zone.
The Friars were up 14-0 over the Dolphins the end of the first quarter.
The Dolphins managed to gain yardage in the air but could not gain enough for a touchdown. In the second quarter, the Friars kicker Giancarlo Abril kicked a field goal bringing the score to 17-0. And with two connects between Phillips and Naputi, the Friars cemented their lead 31-0 at the half.
"I feel like God took the rest and gave me the blessing to catch that ball," said Naputi. "I want to thank my line and all the boys for everything they do for this team and thanks to the Dolphins for playing their heart out and it was a good game all in all."
In the second half, the Friars scored two more touchdowns and the extra points were good.
