Entrance Exam

 

The entrance exam consists of the following three parts.  

• Math Section - A 40 minute math section that covers topics from basic arithmetic to algebra 2.  Students are not expected to know all the problems however.  
• Reasoning Section - A test that checks students abilities to find relationships between items and compute math mentally.  
• Reading Section - The reading section tests vocabulary, syntactic similarities, paragraph reading, and sequence sequencing.

Entrance Test Prep Session

Give your son an advantage by attending a 90 minute review of the entrance exam. This review will provide your son with practical advice and skills before his schedule entrance exam.  Please drop off your son at the Phoenix Center before 6:00 pm on his scheduled day.

Open House (Stay tuned for details.)

Visit our Father Duenas campus during our annual Open house where participants get to tour the campus, meet faculty and students.  This three hour visit will allow all visitors to gather information, ask questions and see the school first hand.  

 

Shadow Days (Stay tuned for details.)

If you need to cancel or re-schedule your shadow day, please notify the Admissions Office at 671-735-3378.

Please read the instructions below in preparation for your visit. Once we've confirmed your reservation, you will receive an email verifying the date you selected. Students should bring a copy of this email on their shadow day.

What to Bring, What to Wear.

Eighth graders should bring a copy of their email confirming their shadow date.
Also, we suggest that they bring a pen and some paper to take notes.  Shadow students do NOT need to wear school uniforms, but they should wear appropriate clothes for school (no tears/holes in clothing, no inappropriate wording on shirts, no zories, etc.).  While snacks will be provided, they may bring their own lunch, or some money to buy lunch.  Students at FD have a wide selection of lunch items to choose from.  A typical lunch with drink at FD costs about $8.00. 

FD discourages all students from bringing valuables and large sums of money to school.

Drop off Instructions

Between 7:20 am and 7:40 am, parents are asked to park on the East side of the Phoenix Center (i.e., side closest to Infant of Prague Nursery). and accompany their sons to the lobby of Phoenix Center to sign in.  This sign in process is important and only takes a couple of minutes so parents can be on their way quickly.

The Day on Campus

We do our best to match shadow students with student guides who have similar interests or who might know your son.  

Once all the students have been paired off, they will meet with the Dean of Academics and student leaders at 7:45 a.m. in the Phoenix Center and join our morning assembly.  Afterwards, the shadow students will be guided through the days normal course of classes  Throughout their day they will talk with other students, meet the freshmen teachers, and generally experience a "typical day" at FD.  

There will be a mid-morning break, at which time a snack will be provided.   For lunch, the shadow students will remain with their guides and they will have the opportunity to purchuse lunch at our cafeteria or the Friar's Den.  

The day ends with a group meeting of all the shadow students and guides to give them an opportunity ask questions and listen to the expiences of one another.

The Shadow Day ends at 2:30 p.m.

Pick up Instructions

Parents should use the same parking lot where they dropped off their son in the morning and meet their son in the main arena of the Phoenix Center.  Students MUST be picked up between 2:30 pm and 2:45 pm. If there is a delay in picking up your son for any reason, please contact the Admissions Office at 735-3378.
