The Fr. Jesus Baza Dueñas Scholarship is named after the native Chamorro priest who gave his life near the end of World War II to protect the life of another. His life and death was a witness of Jesus’ words, “No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13) Father Jesus Baza Dueñas is also the namesake of our school, and as such, this scholarship seeks to uphold the virtues of selflessness and faithfulness that characterized Father Dueñas, the priest, as well as formed the founding purpose of Father Dueñas, our school.
The Fr. Jesus Baza Dueñas Scholarship is open to registered students of Father Dueñas Memorial School (FDMS). It was established to support the efforts of academically able students who are good citizen and dedicated to serving others, who have established leadership in the FDMS and Catholic Church community, and who have demonstrated financial need.
