Guam’s 40
thIsland Wide Science Fair took place on Saturday, May 5
th. Sophomore Donovan Nelson placed first in the Ecology Division, and 3rd overall (island wide) for the high school division.
His project “Analysis of River Water Quality”, tested for conductivity, pH, salinity, and a variety of other factors in the five rivers located in eastern coast. His project tested for pollutants in the rivers caused by human activities. His results confirmed that there was a concentration of pollutants mainly in the Talafofo river.
For his efforts, Donovan will receive a summer internship with the UOG Science Department.
