Seniors, Keone Aliphios, Robin Kim, Frank Wenniger and Junior Johnny Rosario were the lucky students selected by Mr. Ismael Perez to accompany him to the LEAD conference in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. Perez selected these students because of their leadership roles in the National Honor Society.
The conference's main goal was to eneregize the attendees leadership skills. Through a variety of workshops and engaging speakers our students learned new skills to assist them in maintaining a high level of leadership.
Keone Aliphios, NHS President, stated that he learned innovative techniques to improve the NHS chapter and new ideas to better the school community. Robin Kim, added that he was able to grasp valuable lessons from the leadership conference and hopes to utilize everything into the school for the better good. Frank Wenninger, STUCO vice-president, concluded that he would implement the ideas he learned from other students and speakers.
Lastly, Mr. Perez stated that the conferece allows a unique learning enviroment for our students. This conference allowed our students to share their ideas with their contempories were they had conversations with students from varied backgrounds. These opportunities will better prepare them for college.
The group concluded their trip by visiting colleges in Arizona and on the east coast. The schools visited included the University of Arizona, Yale, MIT, Boston College, Boston University, Northeastern and Brown University. Mr. Perez stated that these visits will provide a snapshot of the college life and requistes to succed in their academic career.
