93 degrees of dry heat not withstanding, our brave 21-man deep Friars Cross Country team gave in their best effort and competed in the IIAAG Cross Country Championship on October 6, 2016 @ the challenging Okkodo High School XC Course. Our Friars, composed of 8 seniors, 4 juniors, 6 sophomores, and 3 freshmen, gave everything they had and left everything on the course.
Coming in first for FDMS was senior Michael Rosario (team Co-Captain) who finished 12
th overall out of more than 140 runners. Not far behind was junior Aleksander Perez with another senior, Kraig Guerrero, a few strides behind. Rounding up the 4
th and 5
th place for the Friars were senior Stephen Cabot and junior Steven Leung.
In the JV or “B” race, sophomore Dayton Damian was the first Friar to cross the finish line, 22
nd overall out of 70 runners.
All throughout the season our XC Friars have consistently performed well beyond expectation. Investing time, energy, blood, sweat, and tears to reach the optimum level of their potential. Though they did not bring home the proverbial “bacon” this year, the future looks very bright and promising with the rich talent our underclassmen possess. I’m truly honored to be part of their journey towards success in their chosen sport.
